BBJ is particularly involved in labour market and employment, social policy, public administration reform, vocational education and training, youth policy and regional and structural policy, including SME support. It provides policy advice, technical assistance and administrative services, project design and management at national and international level. It has built its reputation on its innovative approach and the intermediary role that it plays between public policy on the one hand and enterprises, social initiatives and interests on the other. Expertise is focused on: the German federal and regional ministries; private and public companies and institutions; the European Commission; the Council of Europe; OECD, UNESCO; ILO and the European Training Foundation; and CEDEFOP.

BBJ maintains a network of 8 regional offices all over Germany as well as offices in the Russian Federation (Moscow), Poland (Warsaw), Belgium (Brussels), Italy (Castel Ritaldi) and is in the process of establishing an office in Slovenia (Ljubljana). Since the beginning of the nineties, BBJ has increasingly been engaged in international consultancy, particularly in the fields of public administration reform and labour market policy, concentrating on Central and Eastern Europe (Armenia, Russian Federation, Poland, Hungary, Latvia Czech and the Slovak Republics, Romania, Slovenia and Ukraine) In this field, the company uses its broad experience gained in the development and implementation of labour market policy projects and programmes in the new federal states of Germany while they were under transition conditions. Expressed in figures, this means that since the beginning of the nineties BBJ has carried out almost 100 projects in more than twenty countries in Europe, in the Mediterranean area, in Asia and America.

For the implementation of projects, the experience of the whole BBJ organisation in Germany and abroad is available. Moreover, BBJ can boast the expertise of its Advisory Board, which is composed of representatives of German authorities and institutions (inter alia, federal and regional ministries of labour, economy, social affairs, education, science and technology) employers associations, trade unions and national and international training centres.

In addition, BBJ - through its expert database "BBJ-ExpertNet" - can rely on its own pool of highly qualified experts, who not only have the necessary academic knowledge in the specific fields but also possess many years of practical experience.
